August 2011: On Thursday August 4, 2011 Central City South (CCS) hosted its first Mayoral Forum to meet the candidates running for Phoenix Mayor in the August 2011 elections. The CCS Quality of Life Plan (QLP) Strategy Stewards, resident leaders who have committed to continue working on the implementation of the plan, developed the questions that would be asked at the Mayoral Forum based on the goals in each of the eight strategies of the QLP. Four candidates participated in the forum; Peggy Neely, Greg Stanton, Anna Brennan and Wes Gullet. Approximately 127 residents and community stakeholders came to hear what each candidate had to say about the issues that are important to Central City South. KNXV- TV ABC 15 provided the moderator, Lori Jane Gliha, and we received media coverage from both ABC 15 and Channel 33 Univision that allowed us to reach out to both the Spanish and English speaking communities. Phoenix Revitalization Corporation would like to thank everyone who worked to make this event possible and our supporting partners: Friendly House, Inc., Grant Park Block Watch, Marcos de Nina Tenant Council, Greater Phoenix Urban League and Kingdom Communities of the Valley.
